Before my career transition, I was a vehicle mechanic. Working on a plethora of equipment from quadbikes, trucks and generators to armoured protective mobility vehicles. This involved diagnosing, repairing and maintaining.
Requiring a methodical approach to problem-solving, as well as the ability to think creatively and adapt to challenging situations.
This would take place in a variety of environments, working individually and in diverse teams.

My passion for technology began early on, with a fascination for building and troubleshooting PCs.
Driven by a desire to explore the limitless possibilities of the digital world, I embarked on a career transition into the tech sector at the end of 2023.

I commenced on my cloud journey by joining an academy group which helped me delve into the fundamentals of AWS. This led me to successfully complete the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CCP) certification in February 2024. While initially eager to pursue the Solutions Architect (SA) certification, I soon discovered the importance of gaining experience working with AWS Cloud before attempting it.
I decided to take the plunge and move on from labs to live projects. On our academy site, I came across the Cloud Resume Challenge (CRC), by Forrest Brazeal. This would help me bridge the gap between theory and practice.

I made significant progress on the CRC when an exciting opportunity arose: a 12-week intensive Software Developer course.
This aligned perfectly with my goals, as it would allow me to deepen my technical skills and apply them directly to my CRC project.

The course covered a wide range of tools and frameworks. From the fundamentals of HTML, CSS and JavaScript to PostgreSQL, React, Next, various UI libraries and more.
This was certainly my toughest challenge so far. Requiring long hours and dedication to complete numerous individual and group projects. In fact, we were told that the workload was equivalent to a two-year A-Level, and it certainly felt like it!

In early November 2024, I completed my Full-Stack Developer course, keen to apply my newfound skills to my CRC project. I implemented a complete rebuild of the site.
The Present
The skills learnt in my Software Developer course were invaluable. From applying them to my portfolio project, creating a website for a local coffee shop at the turn of 2025, to landing my first role within the tech industry.
Currently (05/2025), I'm working for a growing start-up tech company. Offering a SaaS platform specifically geared towards gamification and data insights on recruitment CRM systems.

I continue to enhance my developer knowledge, building on my experience and skillset within my role and meeting like-minded folks.
The Future

I am also committed to deepening my cloud knowledge and staying up-to-date with emerging technologies. However, I may start to zero in on which areas of which to focus on. There is so much out there that it can quickly become overwhelming.
One particular area that is peaking my interest, would be taking on the next exam in my AWS journey…Solutions Architect.
But as for now, I shall be committed to learning my current role to the best of my ability (with a dash of learning Spanish!)
